The UFC has shown fight fans several fighters with unbelievable knockout power. Francis Ngannou scared the living daylights of the heavyweight fighters with power in both hands. After Ngannou left the UFC, Alex Pereira became touted as having the most power, particularly in his signature left hook.
Ngannou recorded the most powerful punch in history years before on the PowerKube machine, which Pereria broke by a wide margin recently. Now, Eddie Hall, a British Strongman, destroyed the record set by Pereira. Even before Pereira and Hall, UFC middleweight Joe Pyfer claimed to have broken the record set by Ngannou.
Nevertheless, there is no official confirmation from reliable sources whether Pereira, Hall, or Pyfer punched harder than Ngannou. The integrity of the record, therefore, remains uncertain. Nonetheless, Ngannou scored 129,161 units on the machine, whereas Pyfer, Pereira, and Hall had scores of 170,218 units, 191,796 units, and 208,901 units, respectively.
Nonetheless, it is impressive that Hall, the 2007 World’s Strongest Man, scored north of 200,000 units on PowerKube. However, his combat sports skills are inferior, as evidenced by his sparring session with an MMA fighter and loss to Hafþór JĂşlĂus Björnsson, a fellow strongman, on their boxing debut.
Chael Sonnen speaks about the PowerKube machine
Chael Sonnen often has wild takes on matters related to MMA. More often than not, he speaks of things that he knows are false. However, sometimes, he makes credible points. As such, his take on the PowerKube punch power measuring machine is one of those credible takes. After Eddie Hall broke the record for the hardest punch on the machine, Sonnen made his thoughts known about the machine via X.
Sonnen tweeted that the machine was a scam. Moreover, he explained that the machine only had a season, and it measured power relative to the position where one hit it. The reasoning would make sense as to why Tom Aspinall, the UFC interim heavyweight champion, failed miserably when he tried to break the record. When Aspinall tried his luck on it, he scored less than 50,000 units.
The unanimous consensus is Francis Ngannou and Deontay Wilder are the hardest punchers in MMA and boxing, respectively. The duo’s knockout victories in their respective fields are proof of their power. Alex Pereira also has immense power and might be the hardest puncher on a pound-for-pound scale. The Brazilian dropped Jamahal Hill, a durable fighter, with a left hook that did not even land cleanly with full impact. Nevertheless, the PowerKube machine is not entirely reliable for measuring the knockout power of opponents.
