According to a recent news release, Boise School District announced appointing Wendy Johnson as responsible for leading its schools in the Boise quadrant, effective July 1, 2024.

"Wendy Johnson brings a wealth of experience to the role of Boise Quadrant Area Director, having served Idaho's public school students in a variety of capacities since 1994," the release says. "She has a strong track record of success in the education field, having served students as a teacher, administrator and as the current Superintendent of the Kuna School District, Kuna, ID."

During her career in education, Ms. Johnson has served students as:

  • Superintendent for Kuna School District, 2013 to present
  • Assistant Superintendent for Kuna School District, 2007-2013
  • Curriculum Coordinator and Administrator of Student Services for Kuna School District, 2005-2007

"My interest-based approach brings together students, teachers, parents, community members and leaders together to listen and create a plan to do what is right for our students and solve complex problems together," Johnson says. "I believe in the power of educators to transform the lives of the young people they teach and lead, and believe one of my main responsibilities as an educational leader is to help remove barriers so that teachers can focus on teaching and administrators can focus on supporting their teams."

Johnson earned a bachelor's degree in English from Northwest Nazarene University, a master's degree in Adult Education and Organizational Learning, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. She holds certificates as principal and superintendent.

The Kuna Board of Trustees accepted Johnson's resignation as the district's superintendent at Tuesday's meeting, effective June 30, 2024. Superintendent Johnson shared she accepted the position at Boise School District.

The Board appointed Assistant Superintendent Kim Bekkedahl to serve as interim superintendent for the 2024-25 school year to allow it time to search for the next superintendent to lead the district.

"Superintendent Johnson will be missed, but we realize that professionally, this is a great opportunity for her and wish her the best of luck in this next stage of her career," Chairman Kim Nixon said.
