St. Luke's, Saint Alphonsus, West Valley ranked among top hospitals in the nation

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) Three Treasure Valley hospitals are being recognized as some of the top facilities in the nation. IBM Watson Health program looked at the clinical, financial, and patient perception of care in making its decisions.

Saint Alphonsus ranked in the top five in the small health systems category.

St. Luke's ranked in the top five in the medium health systems.

No other city in the country has two hospital systems that made the list.

In Canyon County, West Valley was also recognized in the 100 Top Hospitals List in the category for Medium Community Hospitals.

The top-performing health systems:

  • Had fewer patient complications and ultimately saved more lives.
  • Provided faster emergency care.
  • Sent patients home sooner.
  • Had lower patient readmission rates.
  • Scored higher on patient ratings of hospital experiences.

The research from the 15 Top Health Systems study allows health systems to understand how they compare to peers and national benchmarks in terms of quality of care, operations and patient satisfaction.
